Mrs. Ray taught courses in Business Law and Juvenile Justice while an adjunct faculty member at Coastal Carolina Community College in Jacksonville, North Carolina.
She was a member of the Officers’ Wives Clubs at Marine Corps Bases Camp Pendleton, CA and Camp Lejeune, NC and the Naval Officers’ Spouses Club at Newport, RI. These organizations pride themselves on raising money for scholarships for military spouses and charitable giving. While at Camp Lejeune, she served on the Scholarship Committee and as Chairperson for the Second Marine Division Wives on the Camp Lejeune OWC Executive Board.
When her husband’s battalion deployed to Europe for training and later to Southwest Asia for Operation Enduring Freedom and later Operation Iraqi Freedom, she served as the Advisor for the 2dLAR Battalion Key Volunteer Network and served as a senior advisor on the Key Coordinator Family Readiness Group. She worked with the rear elements of the Second Marine Division to assist family members in locating resources and assisting with all aspects of deployment issues, including financial assistance, childcare and respite issues, medical and mental health care, domestic abuse, child abuse, and casualty notification. Serving in these positions made her responsible for providing resource assistance for literally thousands of spouses and family members.
She has also devoted her time to a number of professional, civic, social and charitable causes which include the following current and former affiliations:
The Association of Trial Lawyers of America; the National Bar Association; the South Carolina Trial Lawyer’s Association; the American Bar Association - Family Law Section and Dispute Resolution Section; the South Carolina Black Lawyer’s Association; the Aiken County Bar Association; the South Carolina Bar’s Children’s Committee, Law Related Education Committee, and Family Law Section.
She also currently serves as the Legal Redress Chairperson of the Aiken Branch NAACP, the Chairperson of the South Aiken High School Improvement Council, and is a member Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
She is a past member of the Board of Directors for the Cumbee Center for Victims of Domestic Abuse, the Helping Hands Home for Children, and the Aiken Department of Public Safety Citizen’s Advisory Committee.
Mrs. Ray married Col. Eddie S. Ray, USMC (retired) in 1999, and the couple parents a blended family of six children.
