DIVORCE

A divorce can be a very painful time for both parents and children; however, it is an event that becomes more likely for your family to encounter every day.  You will need an experienced attorney to successfully guide you through the complex negotiations involved in evaluatiing your marital estate and effecting a settlement or preparing for trial.

CUSTODY

Primary child custody will impact your child for the rest of his or her life.  You don't want to make the mistake of hiring an attorney who doesn't possess the skills to demonstrate your ability to be your child's primary custodial parent.  Many people believe that a child can decide with which parent he or she wants to reside, but the Family Court must always consider what is first in the child's best interest.  Make sure that you have an attorney who can prepare your case properly and present your petition for custody in the most compelling manner.

MEDIATION

Mediation is a relatively new area which most couples going through the family court have not experienced.  It allows parties to determine their own fate, rather than allow the Judge to make the decision.  Parties meet with their attorneys and a neutral mediator and make an effort to settle their issues without going to a trial.  This method is often more efficient, faster, less expensive, less emotional, and the parties are usually happier with the outcome than if they had gone to trial because it is their own decision.  Kim Anderson Ray has represented clients in numerous mediations and is also herself a Board Certified Family Court Mediator available to mediate cases throughout South Carolina.
